We offer special guided excursions on horseback in secluded Waipi’o Valley. Our small groups savor the charm of this adventure in old Hawaii! This trek takes a leisurely pace. Our guides narrate throughout the ride, explaining the history, legends and facts of life in the valley. The path meanders through lush jungle trails along the hillside; through streams and rivers; and on to ancient Hawaiian villages. Riders see dramatic 1,200-foot waterfalls, taro patches, lotus ponds, wild horses, exotic flowers, plants, native trees and birds. See one of Hawaii’s oldest forms of farming that produces taro, a Hawaiian staple that helps feed our local community. A minimum of two and a maximum of fourteen riders are allowed on each excursion.

Restrictions:
- Children under twelve years of age will be accepted if they
are with a responsible adult or are experienced riders.
- No children under 8 years old permitted on horseback.
- No tours available on Sundays.
-Where long pants and close toed shoes.
-Weight limit 230 lbs

At Pa’ani Ranch, we keep our horseback riding group to a maximum of seven horses per tour, keeping the groups small and intimate. Each tour is approximately one and a half hour in length, riding through our 220-acre working cattle ranch. Guides share the history of the ranch and the culture of the Big Island and make stops at interesting points for picture taking opportunities. Our horses are well trained and reliable - perfect for riders of all levels of experience. Guests are matched to horses based on their individual skills and experience.

Restrictions:
 Riders must be at least 8 years of age, no less than 4’6” tall and weigh no more than 250 pounds,
in good physical health and able to follow instructions and directions given by guides. Sorry, we cannot allow anyone to ride that is pregnant. People with neck or back injuries or other medical conditions should check with their doctor before participating.
Dress Recommendations: Long pants.
Dress Requirements: MUST wear closed toe shoes
